Dr. Jack Schaap has been the pastor since March of 2001 and has led the church to see many wonderful blessings including 25,000 baptisms in 2005. The church has doubled its attendance in the past five years and is one of the fastest growing churches in the country. In 2006, First Baptist Church was recognized as "One of the Fifty Most Influential Churches in America” by Church Report Magazine.
The First Baptist Church hosts three large conventions each year. The International Pastors' Conference is held each March, the International Youth Conference is held each July, and the Christian Womanhood Spectacular is held each October.
